For more than 100 years The Blandford Club has been home to a charming social, golf and tennis club enjoyed by members of all ages, handicaps and skill levels. The Club owes its unique character to its founders' commitment as stated in its charter - to encourage membership "by imposing moderate annual dues and prohibiting any features that may tend to give it an exclusive character."

That has been the tradition since its founding in 1909, when 22 charter members put up $100 each to purchase what was then known as the Porter Estate with the intention of developing a summer retreat for recreational purposes. The group voted to convert the beautiful summer home of Josephine Porter, built in 1822 and located on the estate, into a club house. The Club now features a full golf course (nine holes with multiple tees) and Har-Tru tennis courts.

Today, that clubhouse serves as the hub of varied social and athletic activities throughout the spring, summer, and early fall seasons. Festive theme parties, couples golf and tennis, bridge and Mah Jongg leagues are examples of events held at the Club over the years. Mid-week mixed evening golf are followed by cocktails and dinner. The club's primary philosophy is to provide a refuge for its members - a place to relax with family, guests and friends in a beautiful stress-free setting.

The clubhouse has been modified over the years to include a spacious ballroom for dining, dancing, social events and private parties. Yet the early 19th century character of the house is strongly evident in its style and decor, along with antique furnishings which adorn parlors, sitting rooms and overnight accommodations for members and their guests.

Beginning with the 2019 season, we have changed the name to Blandford Country Club and is under new management. Previous members, who have spent years playing at this beautiful location, were not ready to see a beautiful golf course give way to some sort of commercial or residential development. We offered to purchase the property with the intention of carrying on its founding principles and historic tradition.

We plan to make improvements and have acquired talented staff to maintain the course and manage the golf program at the Club. At the outset, golf will be our emphasis and we hope to be able to provide tennis this year as well. As we gain our footing, we expect there will be additional consideration given to additional types of memberships, including tennis and social memberships. We also plan to reinstate food services and will acquire a liquor license to further Blandford Country Club as a gathering place for family and friends.
